Our Book Acquisition Process - Update March 1, 2026
Do you have books to donate or sell?
We receive many calls from people interested in selling or donating books, and we are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our community. Thanks to your support, we currently have an overabundance of books. At the same time, we are in the process of refreshing our shelves by removing older inventory, a necessary but time-consuming project.
For the time being, we need to limit book trades to no more than one box or one bag per visit. We also must pause acceptance of most hardcover fiction, except for recent bestsellers, well-known and popular classics, or titles we know are in demand or frequently requested.
At present, we’re unable to purchase books for cash, but we may be able to do so again at a later time. In most cases, sellers receive store credit equal to 25% of our in-store price for the book. Our in-store price is often about half of the original cover price, though it may vary slightly based on current market value. Mass-market paperbacks are purchased at a flat rate of 25¢ per book, and trade paperbacks are valued in the same manner as hardcovers.
Book donations are always appreciated. Please note that we do not accept textbooks or books in poor condition, including those that are musty, mildewed, or falling apart.
